Arnold Coffee: american coffee in Milan

Starbucks never opened in Milan. People say that in Italy there isn’t, and there’ll never be, the tradition of sipping an American coffee while walking in the streets, mobile in one hand and steaming cup in the other. Our culture wants Espressos to be drank at the counter while flipping La Gazzetta’s pages. In order to dispel this myth and to please all the Americano lovers, Andrea Comelli and Alfio Bardolla opened in 2009 the first Arnold Coffe near the Università Statale.

Today, Arnold counts four stores and our favorite is the one in Via Orefici: we particularly like it because of its broad raised floor, where students and freelancers work with their computers while drinking from their cups. Here, you’ll feel teleported to London or New York: the counter displays pancakes, muffins and cupcakes and the posters behind the counter list all the varieties of coffee. Take a seat, grab a lemon muffin, our fav, and enjoy this Italian Starbucks!
